As a consequence of the fall of man, the connection between man and God was broken. Sin came between God and man. Jesus Christ came and took away the sin of the world (John 1:29), that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16)!

God prepared a way for man back to a connection with Him. There is one mediator between God and men (1 Tim. 2:5), Jesus Christ. Thus, as man turns to Jesus, asks Him for forgiveness of his sins, and invites Jesus to become the lord of his life, he will, according to God's promise, get all his sins forgiven, be born again, from above, and Jesus Himself will come to stay in his heart. So the connection will be all right, praise God!

2 Cor. 5:17: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" When a man or a woman - anyone - receives Jesus as his or her own personal saviour, he/she gets a new life, one of the blessings of which is the connection with God. Jesus repaired this connection two thousand years ago on the middle cross of Calvary. Thus, from God's side the state of affairs is all right, but what about from your and my side? Have you invited Jesus to become the lord of your life? Have you got your sins forgiven? God would want all men to be saved (1 Tim. 2:4).

I tell you, now is the time of God's favour, now is the day of salvation (2 Cor. 6:2)!

Heavenly Father, I come to you through the name and blood of Jesus; I know that I am a sinful human being. Please forgive me my sins for the sake of your mercy and the work of Jesus Christ.

Dear Jesus, come to be the lord of my life; I turn away from the old, and from now on I want to live for you. I believe that you died exactly for my sins and that you rose to give me a new life. I now receive you as the Lord of my heart and as my personal saviour! Amen.

If you prayed the previous prayer from your whole heart, you have just been born again, from above. Your sins have been forgiven! God is now your Father and you are His child. I proclaim to you the absolution from your sins for the sake of Jesus' work. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

After you have started following Jesus, it is good to find friends who believe in Him, too. They can support you in your decision. One way to find such friends is to come to the services and meetings of the church to be amongst others who have made the same decision.
